FLOORING

During the development stage, selecting the types of flooring for the various areas of the gym is of prime importance. This is the largest surface that is in constant contact with your clients whether they are performing their dance or yoga routines or stretching and warming up on the floor.

The first point of note is that throughout the facility floor levels should all be of equal height to prevent any accidental tripping or slipping. However, each section of the gym floor area will require a different sub-base.

It is also crucial that flooring in areas that may become wet, such as the changing rooms and shower rooms, should be made of anti-slip materials such as non-slip gratings.

TEMPERATURE

For the overall feel good factor, ambient temperatures within gyms should be maintained at 22ºC while changing rooms should be a little warmer with a temperature of 24ºC with relative humidity at 60%.

Since the exercise equipment will be used by different persons, it is recommended that antiseptic dispensers be installed in the vicinity of the machines for hygienic purposes. A precautionary measure to take into account is that walls should not have sharp edges or corners for safety reasons.
